Review of Bethesda

So many of you are familiar with gaming reviews where players and pro-game reviewers review games to let you know what they think of a game. HOWEVER in recent years I as a gamer sadly find its over due in time that we turn our attention to those who make games. This is due to how the games companies are acting and even ripping off their costumers and fan base, as well as just flat out coming up with some monumentally stupid ideas that could sink their company with the back lash as gamer's vote with their wallets if they dish out Trash we demand money back and warn others gamer's NOT to buy it or WORSE sometimes we will call for boycotts thus depraving them of our money.

Sadly to start off my reviews of gaming companies its has to be Bethesda. Their score with me currently is 6.5 out of 10 at the moment but the score keeps dropping and here's why.

Over all they are not a bad company, their games are endless hours of fun and then more endless hours on top of that when you mod them. But they are sadly starting back down that steep slope of stupidity and greed, and as fans we want them to stop that free fall before it's to late and we loose them forever.

Over the years I have played a number of Bethesda games most notably the elder scrolls games (from arena to ESO) and Fall out just to name the better known ones. They have had a bumpy past that is not always good, but also not always bad. Bethesda always score back in my good books from time to time in the fact that they TRY to make their fans happy and that is not always easy but unlike others they DO TRY and that is an important thing to remember and perhaps why many of us keep hoping for them and forgiving them.

However as forgiving as we are with Bethesda they just can not seem to drop this idea of paid mods. They tried it with Valve via steam and got MASSIVE backlash and had to pull it. NOW its out in the form of creation club. And by extension Bethesda net. Basically Bethesda are looking to make money OFF of the Modding community who have been around since gaming began. it used to be a way to find talent for your company, Even Bio-were made use of this factor, but sadly more and more gaming companies are turning to find ways of making money off their supporting community at the EXPENSE of that community. Unfortunately it has not gone in-noticed Bethesda, most of your fan base are not only tech savvy, but money savvy. Creation club in its current paid mod format is a BAD IDEA did you learn NOTHING for your first attempt at this?! Good point of the bathseda.net/creation club is that you bring mods to consoles, this even I feel is LONG overdue and from that point is a brilliant idea, But charging for the mods other players upload onto it? NOT so good. Charging to download creation club Also not a good idea. If it's content that equates to a whole other game style add-on with all new adventures and that you yourself created it yes, as gummers we're usually happy to pay you a few $/£'s for your work. when it comes to mods we can already find better and for free online from our fantastic Modding community NOT A CHANCE! That is seen right off the bat as a rip off. HORSE ARMOUR ring any bells here? you bring it out for Skyrim as if totally unaware the Modding community already had such an epic mod, but then you tried to charge us for it? yeah that was an EPIC bad idea! Now in creation club you TROLL us with your bad idea? ok its a little funny but still don't joke about it, its like a nail in the coffin to you Bethesda.

Story writing and rushing of games. Dear old Bethesda you really are making it hard for us to love you, and believe me we WANT to love you but you keep making it hard, to the point it feels like a form of domestic abuse with us being the victim in it. Yes It really is that bad, because it feels like Psychological abuse we are getting from you but for some reason we still want to try to love you.

I'm going to harken to Skyrim for this one because it's sadly a good semi recent example of the problems i want to point out to you.

So the flaws of this game and it's not only present in this game but many of Bethesda's more recent ones is the lack of story and back story. I have played literally 1000s of hours on Skyrim (and a few other games but Skyrim is the best example) I have from launch day found so many bugs it was unreal. These bugs came about because you have become lazy in your coding AND are rushing out half finished games. (yes we picked up that you cut corners). even with at the time of launch a top spec PC for the time i found 100s of graphical bugs just playing NORMALLY with no mods (I do like to play games before Modding them), running around rocks that should have snow or something on them to see blank graphics you tried to pass off as snow? yeah not happening it just looked awful. Flashing backdrop as your running around (extremely annoying), falling under the map for just opening a door. Getting stuck between rocks and other unseen holes making it impossible to get anywhere because you are stuck in a BAD way. This list goes on with those bugs (see Skyrim & Skyrim SE reviews) Then there's the memory coding of your games. As gamer's we literally have to go into the game file directory and change lines of code in the game files or download mods that act like patches to FIX your mess Bethesda and now in your latest line of stupid idea's you have blocked achievements for every mod that is added to games? A large number of mods out there are to FIX YOUR MESS AND LAZINESS! it's just ridicules. FIX your games, FINISH your games properly and CLEAN YOUR BASE FILES! Before we can even mod your games and in some cases even PLAY an unmodded game we have to clean YOUR GAME FILES just to fix bugs that often make the game crash as soon as you load it, crash randomly in the game and even LAG us to death or even worse with modded or in-modded games (and I have had this with unmodded) C++ errors that end up crashing my whole PC and at times even damaging it. SO KINDLY SORT YOURSELVES OUT! I'm almost shocked that no one has sued you for damage to their PCs for this, I'm glad it hasn't happened but I'm also shocked that it hasn't.

next up is the story telling in the game. the biggest one for this in Skyrim was your civil war aspect. how you join Side A or Side B was lacking and it just ended with them saying "oh you need to go do other things around Skyrim we don't need you any more but if you happen to see camps of Side X wipe them out for us". VERY lame! (again see Skyrim & Skyrim SE reviews) Bethesda's obsession with starting as prisoners, at least in Morrowind we had some back story (last time oblivion also lacked back story). For some reason we're thrown on a cart and having our head chopped off WHY?! it was totally illogical, back story would have been a VERY good idea here. And then there is Fallout 4, which feels like Skyrim with sic-fi, AGAIN lacking story and again starting as a sort of prisoner (locked in a Cryo-Freeze pod), but at least there was some back story so Kudo's and cookies there Bethesda! BUT (yeah another but,) it's like for every good thing Bethesda you do 20 bad not a good ratio at the moment. So yeah the latest thing is a set of game ini files that we as gamer's have to edit to be able to mod Fallout 4, can't help but feel that was an attempt to prevent us from Modding the game out side of your epic bad idea of creation club/Bethesda net. YEAH don't try it with us Bethesda because if we want to mod a game WE WILL ALWAYS FIND AWAY. So Stop trying to screw with us already. So while we are once again on mods, Your so called content in creation club that you claim to have made is once again rip offs of another mod makers mod! First Hearthfire, then horse armour now the stealth power armour?! Oh and a trolling Power armour Even NAMED Horse armour. JUST STOP IT! Your fan base were NOT born yesterday we are tech Savvy for the most part and most of us have been following you so long we know when you are messing us around or trying to cheat us. JUST STOP IT for your own sake, use your own idea's instead of stealing ideas off of our mod makers and then trying to claim it as your own, this stupidity could sink you as a gaming company, and we are Warning you because we don't want to see that happen! Stop trolling your fans! The trolling of your fans isn't even the most annoying thing, you try rip off the good mods in a number of cases you pick out the crappy ones that no one on nexus likes and then try to charge us for them?! Just stop being idiots Bethesda and stop stealing stuff from our mod makers who are keeping your games alive long after they are out of trend! Instead use the mods to find some good talent for your company! Mara and her team who made romance in Skyrim are one such bunch, Fore with his FNIS is another, there is a long list of decent mod makers out there who could add some very much needed talent to your company!

The run down. so basically Bethesda you need to 1: STOP rushing your games out because it is effecting their quality and story in a BIG way! 2: Get your Nerds gerbils to get their heads together and get stories worked out before they start work on a game and if they can't for some reason then FORCE them to play some AD&D! ( that should help them!) 3: Stop trying to push the lame and stupid idea of paid mods. 4: stop stealing mods and then saying they were your idea (because that is just NOT cool) 5: Stop trying to block mods, It wont work the community ALWAYS finds away around it and if not for the Modding community your games would have died out LONG ago. 6: Clean up your core files and check coding before you launch it (this should stop memory issues and C++ problems) 7: Stop screwing with us and stop Trolling us!

Because right now Bethesda you are on a downward trip and we as your fans are trying to warn you that this path is dangerous, we've seen many go this way just to end up going bust and vanish forever, and WE don't want to see that happen to you, so PLEASE heed our warnings to you before it is to late to turn back and we loose you and you end up with out a job.
